Looking back at those pictures is hard, but it’s also a beautiful reminder of how far I've come. It was honestly super frustrating and difficult going through that, for what seemed like forever (approximately 1 and a half years with better / worse periods). My skin has now been consistently clear since around August of this year (so about 6 months) and I couldn’t be happier. My skin is far from “perfect” but I am so grateful to have healed and overcome that (I still get a breakout now and then but I don’t stress about it and I think it’s normal). During the bad skin time, I tried to make every part of my life so perfect and was so careful about every single thing (food & lifestyle) in order to heal my skin, but it was at the worst it’s ever been - I believe the stress of that alone really got to me and affected my skin tremendously. It’s like a bad cycle. Of course my intention, as I mentioned in the video, was always good as I was just trying to figure out why this was happening and how I could heal it (by making adjustments to my diet / lifestyle). Anyway I just hope that those photos and the information I shared will inspire someone who might be going through the same issues to keep going and have faith that their skin will heal. It’s not permanent! :)
The point of this video was to say that not every diet will work the same for every body. I’ve now tried numerous variations of plant based diets, and have found a style which suits my body, soul and lifestyle. I eat a generally well-rounded whole foods plant based diet, rich in veggies (fruits mostly during breakfast / for snacks, however no bananas / dates), starches like sweet potatoes, fats like avocado, and proteins like beans and quinoa. I eat intuitively and only when hungry. My diet is not 100% clean / perfect all the time, I have occasional treats here and there... and I like it that way :)
Using the right skin care products now, taking the natural supplements, increasing the amount of greens, veggies, legumes and fats have helped so much. Also as mentioned, this does not mean it will be the same for everyone. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works for YOU.
A huge takeaway from this experience was also the importance of finding balance and doing what I think is right for ME - food and everything else. As much as I want to be a positive example and always do the right thing, I’m human and I cannot please everyone. I want to enjoy my life fully and do what makes me happy as that is the only way I can be authentic with myself and others. When I feel good, I can do good in the world, work hard, take care of myself, have a positive impact on other people’s lives etc..
Moving forward I definitely want to make more videos about skin health / skin care / body care as it’s a topic that’s very near and dear to my heart and I know it’s something that a lot of you have also requested I speak more about. Feel free to leave any requests or questions you might have and I will read through them.
Thank you guys as always for your incredible support and love, it really means so much to me and I’m so happy to have you in my life ♥
