Its what you do with the remaining 23 hours that is the hard part.” NOBODY craves a lean chicken breast or paneer made from skimmed milk. Think about it. Your strongest cravings are always for carbohydrates. Cake, samosas, pav bhaaji, burgers. Nobody craves butter chicken by itself. EVERYBODY craves butter chicken and NAAN. The carb is what makes food sexy. Sugar, sweets and chocolate are the worst villains when it comes to your dieting journey. And the carb is also the root cause of close to every long term health issue. Today’s video is all about beating those carb cravings. Another HIGHLY requested video. How often do you meet someone who says something like, "I'll eat as many eggs as possible and as much real food as possible, but NO PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS. EVER." Invariably, most people who work out longer than 6 months end up using protein powders. Every fit INDIAN who ever started gymming has always doubted the safety and legitimacy of bodybuilding supplements at some point. But ultimately, these opinions change over time. These same individuals use the internet and educate themselves. So all you Indians out there who gym regularly, I feel your pain. The hardest thing is to convince OTHERS of the safety and benefits of supplements. The general public – Parents, spouses and other people who have never seen a dumbell in their life, these people have HUGE misconceptions about these supplements. This is mainly because of the lack of correct fitness education amongst the majority of the Indian population. I've heard people come up to me and say things like "Protein shakes? More like shakes of poison." Amongst the general population, the word "supplement" is mostly always associated with steroids. Indians tend to jump to conclusions and assume that simple protein shakes will have the same effect as steroids – Hair loss, kidney failure, impotency, etc. The list is endless. A list of endless and baseless myths. So this video is primarily for EVERY GYMMER out there. Go show it to the individuals who always tend to argue with you without backing their arguments with strong reasoning. Go show it to your mom, who flips out every time you need more protein. How to lose weight fast and easy at home! Today’s video is made especially FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER. Someone who considers themselves at or near the bottom of the list in terms of fitness/health. Today’s video is for all those looking for that first baby step towards getting leaner and healthier. Fitness is a science. A tonne of information goes into contributing to a healthy lifetysle and thus a lean body. I’ve had a deep, burning passion for fitness for a while now, and it’s safe to say that I’m still learning. But there was that first step. As a fat teenager, when I went up to my trainer and asked him to give me my first basic task, my first step in moving towards a healthy lifestyle, he told me this – “For now, the deep fried food, the junk food, everything that’s savoury is fine. In the beginning you can afford to eat a bit of unhealthy food. But the one thing you should absolutely stay away from, THE ONE THING that you should avoid at all costs, IF YOU WANT TO GET FIT, is dessert. Avoid all kinds of desserts.” I blindly followed his advice and this very motto has become a cornerstone of my lifestyle. THE ONE THING that I avoid as much as possible, is dessert and there is a reason for that. I drink, I eat pakodas, at least thrice a week I have an enormous helping of greasy red meat. But THE ONE THING I WILL ALWAYS AVOID will be dessert. It has to be a VERY special occasion or it has to be a non-negotiable craving for me to even consider having a sweet dish after my meals. I believe that dessert and sweets in general are the one food that keeps people from being lean. Anyone who is overweight/unhealthy, I guarantee you, they have an affinity for sweets, they have a “sweet tooth”. It needs to be understood that desserts aren’t a food source. They are a vice. There’s a reason that most fit people avoid sugary foods. I would go as far as saying I pool desserts with alcohol or drugs. And there are multiple reasons why. I guarantee that if you ONLY avoid dessert, you'll surely lose weight. You can't expect to lose 10kg in 10 days honestly, but If you ask me to give you a number, i'd say about 10 kg in 6 months provided you exercise. And 10kg in a year if you don't exercise. Today’s video is the third in my series of basic workouts for beginners. A common opinion amongst strength athletes is that strong backs mean high strength levels overall. Most compound movements in the gym heavily involve the use of the back and that’s why in my opinion, back workouts are probably the most important kind. Back workouts also heavily improve what people understand as “Functional Strength” - Strength required to do daily activities and take your overall health to a new level. I believe that its essential for men and women everywhere to at least work their backs, if not any other muscle. Men have the added advantage of developing the much desired “v-taper” or the "Hrithik-type" back easily, through simple the simple forms shown in this video. Today we’ll be going over 3 forms :- The Pull Up : THE MOST IMPORTANT Back exercise and hence one of the most important exercises for a healthy body. Fantastic especially for developing a V-taper. The one arm row : Dumbbell exercise for helping with overall muscle mass development in the back muscle. Primarily a strength building exercise that also builds mass. The back extension : One of the most important yet most underused exercises in the world. Simple, free body exercise to work the lower back and basically “toughen up” the injury-prone lower back area. Most people in gyms are doing back exercises wrong and they don’t even know that yet. Watch this video if you’re a gymmer, just to be sure that your form is alright. I’ve gone over all 3 forms in detail. These basic back exercises alone can build good enough backs in the gym AND EVEN AT HOME. A strong back = a strong body = a healthy body. Should girls lift weights? I have a background in martial arts and I’ve spent most of my childhood doing free body exercises. I used to be one of those guys crazily against using “equipment” for fitness. There was a point in my life where EVEN I had notions like “weights make you bulky”, “weights are dangerous” In the summer of 2012, I was overweight, unhealthy and I was just recovering from my 3rd surgery in 3 years. I’d popped both my rotator cuffs in my shoulders thanks to a long term Judo injury. I’d lost a chunk of the range of movement in my arms and even my physiotherapists had given up on me. That’s when I went “Why not give weight training a try?” And it changed my life. Fixing my arms was just the beginning. Its been a while since then. But this journey has been goddamn magical. I’m all about general fitness. I feel even a simple morning walk counts as some kind of fitness. Its always better than doing nothing. But weight training, in my honest opinion, is the fastest, most efficient and most effective path to overall health. Keep in mind, before I took up weight training, I was eaily the unhealthiest guy you’d ever meet. This activity has given me benefits that I could only dream of. Forget the external benefits like an aesthetic body and muscle strength. The biggest thing I’ve gotten from lifting weights is peak physical health. And there’s a deep science behind that. Personally, I feel that the biggest VILLAIN in the Indian gymming scene is the supplement industry. Younger dudes who take up gymming, invariably jump onto the supplement “bandwagon”. Before sorting out their basics – Diets, exercise, schedules; these younger gymmers are more concerned with their watermelon BCAA boxes or glutamine post workouts. In some cases without even getting diets right, gymmers consider using something as serious as steroids and fat burners. My fitness coach, Binny Sreedharan has been saying this for a while. The supplement industry (including and especially the steroid industry) in this country, is going to implode. Some younger gymmer, somewhere in India is gonna face the consequences of making supplements the cornerstone of his gymming. One thing that beginners need to understand is that supplements are actually not even supposed to be a part of lifting. Unless you’re an attention craving douchebag, you gym for your own body. Not to impress others. Your own body = your own health. Not your perception in other people’s minds. How do we even know the long term effects? The complexity of the curries is just something out of the world. The spice and coconut goodness combined with fresh seafood is the best way to enjoy these curries in my opinion. I personally prefer these kinds of curries and this style of cooking to traditional punjabi cooking. This kind of cooking is not only healthier but its also what I call NEXT LEVEL FOOD. Unfortunately, as with most things in life, deliciousness is at the cost of calories and macros. The coconut and oil traditionally used in these curries is just off the charts. That’s why I’m releasing this video today. We are gonna be making a LOW FAT, GRILLED version of a South Indian fish curry. Today, I’m releasing a very special video. As with all fitness-related things, I’ve observed that a bulk of my audience is under 30. Older Indian men and women are some of the least fitness conscious individuals in the world. Nowhere else in the world will you ever see such a drastic difference in interest levels between younger and older people of the same country. While younger Indians, even the least fit ones are still FITNESS CONSCIOUS, for a bulk of 30+ Indians, Fitness = Morning walks Or if you’re more active, fitness = swimming/cycling As good as walking, jogging, swimming or cycling are for your HEART AND LUNGS, they don’t do much for the rest of your body. But most older Indians turn a blind eye to this fact. So if you’re 30, 40, 50 or even older than that, my biggest advice to you would be to educate yourself correctly first. The fitness trends and knowledge is rapidly evolving. You grew up at a time when life was much healthier. No McDonals, no food delivery apps, no lays. Your healthy childhood led toa healthy youth. But the 21st century has caught up with your health levels. You no longer live ina healthy worls. Processed, sugary, high-sodium food is all around you and its going to bite you in the backside if you don’t change youyr lifestyle today. So whether your goal is weight loss or muscle building or just TO BE LEAN, EDUCATE yourself first.
