The Rolling Stones - Tumbling Dice Guitar Lesson

05:38
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/GFjdno The Rolling Stones, "Tumbling Dice" guitar lesson. Today we're using a Lovepedal Tweed Twin to add a rich overdrive to the Tele's neck pickup. Like many riffs from Keith, the tuning for Tumbling Dice starts in open G but shifts to B with a capo on the 4th fret. Using a capo allows for more open strings to be used, which adds to the jangly sound of the opening riff. Keith Richards lends his famous combination of one finger and suspended chords to the pre-chorus while the chorus employs more bluesy pulloffs with open strings in a similar fashion to the opening riff. Furthermore, the Lovepedal Tweed Twin overdrive with a medium gain setting adds an old school flavor to the neck pickup without flubbing out or losing important string definition. Enjoy your daily guitar lesson.

TC Electronic Ditto X4 Looper

06:20
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/EV9oGR Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com, this is the Ditto X4 from TC Electronic. When TC Electronic rolled out its no-nonsense Ditto looper, many players begged for the same simple platform with a host of features. The Ditto X4 was born of these requests and features a ton of live looping flexibility. The core of the Ditto X4 is made up of two independently footswitchable high quality loops, each with its own switch and five minutes of recording time. Players can then choose to run each loop in one of two modes. Serial mode lets players switch between loops one and two for some verse-chorus-verse action, and Sync mode activates both loops at once for complex passages and ambient licks. A dedicated stop footswitch halts both loops, and holding this swtich deletes them. One of seven effects can be used with the FX knob, with everything from half speed to reverse and fading effects, and each effect can be armed with the dedicated FX switch. Using TC's StarJam system, players can load pre-recorded loops from several famous artists, set the backing track level and jam along with them. As one might expect from an expansive looper, the Ditto X4 features true stereo ins and outs and MIDI compatibility for perfectly timed loops, and each Ditto X4 comes in a robust, stomp-proof enclosure with soft-touch true bypass switching.

Buy Now: https://goo.gl/UxMz9F Pink Floyd, "Run Like Hell" guitar lesson. We're using the Malekko Ekko 616 MKII to lend analog warmth to a famous dotted eighth delay sound. The Mark II version of the E616 produces a wider frequency range and louder repeat which lends the needed strength and feedback heard in this classic Gilmour riff. Run Like Hell also utilizes a drop D tuning to give a droning sound in both the main riff and verse. The analog modulation built into the Malekko E616 also covers the chorus effect you hear in Pink Floyd's recording of this song. Enjoy your daily guitar lesson.

Led Zeppelin - The Wanton Song Guitar Lesson

05:58
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/dYq5by Led Zeppelin "The Wanton Song" guitar lesson. Today we're using a Wampler Velvet Fuzz to reproduce this mysterious Jimmy Page tone. The main riff is based on a G octave and Jimmy keeps the strumming very loose to match the groove versus double strokes every time. The guitar tone in The Wanton Song is somehow rude, yet smooth with a touch of compression, a perfect fit for the Velvet Fuzz. Most fuzz pedals won't agree with diminished chords but the pedal's tight mode pushes through the jazzy Fm, Bdim7, Cm7, C#dim7 progression. The final part shows how the Velvet comes through clear even with a neck humbucker as this funkier section plays with some tricky accents/timing. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson.

TC Electronic Polytune

03:09
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/T5pR8U The TC Electronic Polytune is the new kid on the block in pedal tuner technology. Featuring a patented polychromatic tuning circuit, the TC Electronic Polytune eliminates the need to go string to string while tuning. Just turn it on for silent tuning (muted output) and strum all of your open strings and the TC Electronic Polytune shows you which strings are sharp or flat and allows you to tune within +/- .5% accuracy. This eliminates a good chunk of time when tuning between songs and lets people visually see the affect of say a floating bridge when tuning string to string. Not only does this help get a grasp on tuning your instrument effectively, it lets you know right away what string is out of tune. The TC Electronic Polytune features a standard chromatic tuner as well that is super fast and reliable thanks to the unique tuning magnet feature. This allows the TC Electronic Polytune to adjust the speed of the tuning needle dependant on how close or far away you are from pitch.

Earthquaker Devices - Palisades Overdrive

06:54
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/7QB4Bj Behold the Earthquaker Devices Palisades, the final word in Screamer-based overdrive pedals. Earthquaker swore years ago that they would never make a Tubescreamer clone, but when they decided the time had come to break their promise, they vowed to break it in a most spectacular fashion. The Palisades absolutely exhausts every possible 'screamer mod in one pedal, with popular, time-tested options like a switchable input buffer, brightness switch, and built-in boost, as well as the innovative addition of dual rotary switches -- "Bandwidth" for changing the value of the input cap, and "Voice" for controlling the clipping diode configuration. These rotary switches exponentially increase the Palisades' voicing and drive possibilities far beyond anything yet conceived of. But we're not done yet - Earthquaker also added footswitchable A and B gain channels and footswitchable boost, elevating the possible tonal combinations available on the Palisades to a positively mind-boggling 480!

The SDRUM (pronounced Strum) is the world’s first intelligent drum machine for guitarists, that puts the power of the skins in your hands. By entering a rudimentary beat using only your guitar strings, you can leave it to the SDRUM to generate complex rhythms and grooves, then store it to any one of 36 onboard song presets. Utilizing DigiTech’s BeatScratch technology, you can very quickly teach a foundational drum pattern to the SDRUM just by scratching (muted strumming) your guitar’s strings, and then the SDRUM does the rest by filling in the cracks with tasteful grooves complete with embellishments and accents. These high-quality, stereo drum loops are rich, full-sounding drum samples across five different kits. The SDRUM is compatible with DigiTech’s JamSync, which lets you synchronize the SDRUM with your JamMan looper for a full-fledged performance combo. The SDRUM also supports DigiTech’s FS3X footswitch for even more control, letting you control the tempo, fills and other parameters remotely. The SDRUM also features stereo mixer outs so you can send your drum-enhanced rig straight into the console, while your guitar goes right to your amp. Plus a couple soft-touch pads let you tap in the beat if you’re not playing a guitar, making the SDRUM a true performance device for players of all stripes.

Led Zeppelin - What Is and What Should Never Be Guitar Lesson

05:32
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/yjDQJ9 Led Zeppelin "What Is and What Should Never Be" guitar lesson. The next Riff of the Day uses the Catalinbread RAH to recreate a rare Hiwatt tone from Page in 1970. The RAH pedal matches the girth and fuzzy qualities that you hear in the chorus of this tune but it also cleans up very well during the verse. Zep's live version spices up the two verse chords (A13 and E9) with some B string pulloffs, giving it a jangly sound. The other difference is as the chorus winds down where you hear Page doing a little country style bend over the F#,A, E progression. Finally, this tune ends with Page's staccato riff while Bonham bangs a gong! Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson.

ZZ Top - Just Got Paid Guitar Lesson

05:33
Buy Dunlop Germanium Fuzz Face Mini Now: https://goo.gl/NHXgUA ZZ Top "Just Got Paid" guitar lesson. Today we're using a Dunlop Germanium Fuzz Face Mini for that greasy, Billy Gibbons tone. When playing live, the necessary slide parts are in Open E, so this version combines some studio guitar parts. The main riff is actually easily to play in Open E with everything hanging in the 3rd and 5th frets. The verse uses the open E chord and then a slow slide up to D. For the chorus (G-A), you can include the slide overdub with an octave higher for some bluesier sounds. Finally, the sag in the guitar tone of Just Got Paid really can be matched when you underpower the Fuzz Face Mini with either a 'dead' 9V battery or a variable power supply. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson.

Keeley Electronics 30ms Double Tracker

06:39
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/vZN3jq This is the 30ms Double Tracker from Keeley Electronics. The 30ms takes us back to the time when tape was king of the studio and was used to liven up all instruments, including vocals. The 30ms stretches far beyond the capabilities of any tape machine, offering two main modes, via the DIP switches contained within the pedal, and three submodes for each. The stock mode works in mono or stereo to add dimension to anything you can throw at it, and it approaches chorus territory when the Tune is cranked up. One of the benefits of this default mode is the addition of an onboard Chamber Reverb, nicely complimenting its studio profile with a sound that goes back to Abbey Road. However, the meat of the 30ms is its Double Tracker Pro mode, which uses a TRS output cable to generate gobs of juicy musical interplay between two different amplifiers. In this Pro mode, the dry signal can be sent to one amplifier, and an 100 percent wet signal to the other, for true studio-grade double tracking effects. The three submodes are Dimension, which offers two tunable voices (+/- 30 cents), Slapback mode, which contains the dimension mode in addition to a slapback delay (Over 100ms), and 60's inspired Abbey Mode, consisting of one delayed voice with modulation controls. Like each Keeley pedal, the 30ms is exceptionally engineered and tuned with a golden ear in Oklahoma, USA.

Pearl Jam - Corduroy Guitar Lesson

05:52
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/gzUjrq Pearl Jam "Corduroy" guitar lesson. Today we're using a Catalinbread Galileo to produce the EL-84 tube grind heard in this classic 90's riff. Pearl Jam by this time were known to be using smaller boutique amps to record and the natural tube saturation is something the Catalinbread Galileo loves to recreate. Vedder always plays this song with some style of Tele and we found the Galileo without the Top Boost fits the bill for the intro. As the hypnotic riff builds tension, you can hit the Galileo's Top Boost to let the chords roar with a Voxey/Matchless grind. Corduroy's chorus uses a descending pattern of C,B,A,G where the open strings really get to ring and jangle. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson.

Led Zeppelin - Dancing Days Guitar Lesson

07:51
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/GFjdno Led Zeppelin "Dancing Days" guitar lesson. Today we're using the Wampler Plexi-Drive to deliver the midrange "honk" and note definition of an early Marshall amp. When playing this song live, Jimmy Page keeps the guitar in Open G tuning but leaves off the slide so he can include some overdubs which are tricky with a bottleneck on. Open G chords tend to sound happier but Dancing Days uses some interesting phrasing that strays from your familiar Stones riffs. Multiple pull-offs are used on the B string and can be a challenge to play clean while keeping with this song's heavy groove. Page's live version also bounces between the main rhythm and the overdubbed arpeggio with keeps the bare essentials in the tune with just one guitarist. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson.

DigiTech FreqOut Natural Feedback Creator

06:35
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/oKDnWY Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we’re screaming with the FreqOut, from DigiTech. The FreqOut is a natural feedback creator that lets you generate natural feedback without any noise complaints or hearing loss. While most feedback techniques require a ridiculous amount of distortion, the FreqOut works clean, at any volume and even without an amp in the room. The FreqOut reads the incoming harmonic content of the signal, and gives you the ability to focus the feedback on a certain frequency range, for all kinds of creative feedback applications far beyond that of a simple roaring amp. DigiTech gives the FreqOut’s switch the royal treatment, by making it true bypass as well as switchable between latching and momentary modes. The Momentary mode is especially useful for players that want only short bursts of concentrated feedback. A handy Dry Kill toggle switch eliminates the dry signal for 100 percent pure feedback, which lets you sculpt the raw feedback with pedals for tons of extra textures. Two concentric knobs for Gain and Onset let you tailor the feedback to your needs, letting you adjust the flavor as well as the time it takes the feedback to get cooking. And just like all other DigiTech pedals, the FreqOut is housed in a rugged metal chassis that will last a lifetime of gigs.

DOD Rubberneck Analog Delay Pt. 1

08:14
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/PxF1j1 Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com! Today, we're getting a long look at the Rubberneck, from DOD. The Rubberneck is an exhaustive analog delay with more features than most digital delays on the market. With a ton of non-standard controls, the Rubberneck rightfully seizes the analog delay crown, giving you features such as tap tempo effects loops and several others that are mostly foreign to analog delay. Starting out with an insane 1.5 seconds of all-analog delay time, the Rubberneck doubles and triples down on the time control by offering tap tempo with quarter, eighth and dotted eighth subdivisions. A handy tails toggle lets you select buffered bypass, true bypass or buffered kill-dry modes for you intrepid time travelers. Aside from standard delay knobs, the Rubberneck also offers a rich concentric modulation section that ranges from a light spackling of shimmer to a well-worn dilapidated tape machine. A Tone control lets you lighten or darken the repeats, taking them well beyond the murkiness of a standard analog delay, or to a bright set of digital-sounding repeats that still fall apart like any good analog delay. A Gain control lets you juice the Rubberneck's preamp, for some gently broken-up repeats or some fully-saturated tape machine overload. For those looking to depart from typical delay lines, the Rubberneck's namesake function stretches and contracts the repeat pitch and delay time at a speed you select with the Rubberneck Rate knob. And if that's not enough, the Rubberneck's Tempo switch doubles as a Regeneration control, for momentary bursts of self-oscillation send your tone into orbit.

Led Zeppelin - Out On The Tiles Guitar Lesson

05:49
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/GFjdno Led Zeppelin "Out On The Tiles" guitar lesson. For this Riff of the Day, we're using a Lexi drive from DMB pedals to match the midrange punch and cleaner Marshall tone from Mr. Jimmy Page. This riff has Jonesy and Pagey playing the same parts and the growling bass tone actually makes the guitar sound dirtier than it really is. "Out On The Tiles" starts with chugging octaves and a familiar Page bend from G to A, like Heartbreaker. The main riff starts with a F# arpeggio and follows with a lot of action back and forth between two notes, resting on a set of power chords (F#, E). At the start of the second verse, the timing pushes to keep it locked into the standard 4/4 time. With a little practice, this change comes naturally and slowing it down is a good way to start. The chorus is just two chords and we revisit the full step bend and octaves from the intro. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson!

The Doors - Love Me Two Times Guitar Lesson

06:13
CMAT Mod Deluxe CompressorBuy Now: https://goo.gl/JRWsSB The Doors "Love Me Two Times" guitar lesson. Today we're using the CMAT Mods Deluxe Compressor to enhance the zesty Reverend P-90 pickups in the Sensei 290. During Robbie Krieger's short time with The Doors, he could be seen using an early transistor amp which was extremely loud and clean, so we chose a compressor with a tight, transparent sound without the common volume choke. The intro to Love Me Two Times can be confusing because of the slight variation of A,D,E in the second half of the riff. This changes to B,D,E as soon as the band joins in. There are also some nice major 7 chords that can help spice up your chord library. Lastly, you can notice Krieger's natural talent of filling in the rhythm that a bass player normally would, since The Doors was primarily guitar, organ, and drums. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson!

Stone Temple Pilots - Big Bang Baby Guitar Lesson

Catalinbreak Galileo Buy Now: https://goo.gl/gzUjrq Stone Temple Pilots "Big Bang Baby" guitar lesson. Today we're using the Catalinbread Galileo to replicate the chime and grit of Dean DeLeo's P-90 guitar straight into a driven EL-84 combo. Starting with the bark of the Revtrons in the Reverend Charger 290, we used the Galileo's interactive EQ to push the midrange while backing off the bass to match this screaming small speaker tone. The main riff can be thought of as two different patterns with their last 3 chords differing: G,A,D vs. A,B,E. Big Bang Baby along with most STP tunes has a great mix of punky based power and beautiful chord phrasing as heard in the chorus, where DeLeo plays an octave higher. Digitech TRIO Firmware Update & New Features

06:31
http://digitech.com/en-US Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com, today we're rejoining the TRIO by DigiTech. The Trio's latest firmware updates have addressed common issues and added a feature boost to expand creativity. First and foremost, modes accessed by DigiTech's FS3X footswitch have drastically expanded, and are accessible upon connecting the switch. New modes Live and Live Mixer, which offer greater features for performing such as instrument mutes and Learn Mode exclusive functions. One of the issues about the Trio's rhythm section was the virtual bass player's tendency to overplay. For those not wanting to jam with Jaco, DigiTech has implemented the same "Simple Bass" mode from the TRIO+, which is accessable in all modes. Bandleaders can now pre-programmed a music style before the TRIO has "learned" your part, eliminating the need to hastily apply a style after you teach it. Other adjustments include a tweak to the bass playing algorithm, which keeps the bass more squarely in the lower registers when playing along in normal mode, as well as several other bug fixes to make the Digitech TRIO even better!

Catalinbread Adineko Oil Can Delay

06:17
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/xoMJfK This is the Adineko from Catalinbread. When magnetic tap ruled the world in the 60's there was one murky, quirky alternative, the oil can. This purely mechanical device involved a rotating drum of electrolytic oil through which guitar signal passes. Nothing about them was practical, except for the tone, and Catalinbread has worked hard to give us the authentic oil can experience without the hassle. Every aspect of a digital oil can delay can be controlled with the Adineko, from oil thickness to playback head panning. Original oil can delays were used for slapback because it's all the delay time they had. The Adineko provides a much longer delay time, stretching the possibilities of an old-school oil can far beyond the original technology for haunting soundscapes and murky reverberations that ooze vintage cool. An added Reverb knob adds even more thickness to the Adineko, and it's capable of self oscillations that slice through the oil and bubble to the surface. Like all Catalinbread pedals, the Adineko is made from all the good stuff right here in Portland Oregon.

Earthquaker Devices Gray Channel

05:43
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/1RYq7x Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today, we're channeling some vintage overdrive tones with the Gray Channel by EarthQuaker Devices. The Gray Channel is a dual-channel overdrive with its roots in DOD's most classic box, the Overdrive 250. Both Red and Green channels start with the 250 as their base, and then expands on them with some much-needed tweaks, such as increased bass response and stackability. The Red channel offers three clipping modes, and each imparts a unique characteristic to the drive. MOSFET mode offers a heavy compression with a tight crunch, and LED offers a loud, clean drive sound. N mode is a dual-purpose drive, offering everything from clean boost to a gnarly pure op-amp distortion. The Green channel also offers N mode, but also offers Silicon and Germanium modes. Silicon mode offers a tube-like breakup sound, where Germanium mode is a bit looser and softer with an added warmth. Of the two footswitches, one bypasses the entire pedal, while the other switches between Green and Red channels without any needless tapdancing. Each Grey Channel is hand-made by human beings in a top-secret surveillance van in Akron, Ohio. http://proguitarshop.com/earthquaker-devices-gray-channel.html

Rush - Fly By Night Guitar Lesson

05:09
Wampler Plexidrive Buy Now: https://goo.gl/Qc8Xya Rush "Fly By Night" guitar lesson. For the next Riff of the Day, we're using the Wampler Plexi-Drive to get a classic Marshall tone, like Alex Lifeson was getting in the mid 70's. Fly by Night is simple but often misinterpreted and it's usually the A7sus4 that catches people off guard. The chorus also uses a G triad which makes switching to D real easy since they are the same shape. Finally, the early Rush tone is completed by using a semi-hollow guitar with humbuckers and the Reverend Pete Anderson worked wonders for us. Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson.

Xvive U2 Wireless Guitar System

05:39
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/rgWzGs Today Andy roams free with the U2 Wireless System from Xvive. Most wireless systems are hampered by several pitfalls, which makes them unusable to many players. Xvive has addressed all of these issues by making the U2 the sweetest thing in the world of wireless guitar tech. Many wireless systems feature an awkward plug pack, which works great for some guitars, but not all. However, the U2 is easy to please, accommodating Strat players, bass and acoustics with a swivel transmitter that can attach on front, side or rear mounted guitar jacks. The transmitter and receiver are both extremely tiny, making for tidy connections both on and off the pedalboard. There are no mysterious ways about the U2: simply plug the transmitter into your guitar, and the receiver into your amp or pedalboard, and turn both on. Next, just select one of 4 channels indicated by the number of blinks after pressing a single button. Like every completely wireless device, the U2 needs to be charged, and doing so is a breeze. The U2 contains a USB y-cable for easy charging of both transmitter and receiver when not in use, and the charge holds for five solid hours, enough to handle the most demanding gigs. The broadcasting frequency is an extremely wide 20Hz-20kHz for all guitar applications, and a 100-foot range ensures that you can walk away from your rig untethored. Best of all, the latency is a trivial six milliseconds for delay-free note reproduction no matter where in the venue you are.

The Beatles - Hey Bulldog Guitar Lesson

06:31
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/GFjdno The Beatles "Hey Bulldog" guitar lesson. The next Riff of the Day uses the Wampler Thirty Something (formerly the Ace Thirty) to recreate a raw guitar tone from the late 60's. The intro riff locks in with the bass and piano, then takes a step back for the verse. Towards what could be the pre-chorus, there is a great feeling up anticipation by escalating the 5th of the B & E power chords chromatically. The "Hey Bulldog" Solo is very melodic, which we used the Thirty Something's boost feature on, as it glides through the same chord progression of the verse using alternate chord positions and lots of simplified harmonies on the G&B strings. Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson!

U2 - Zooropa Guitar Lesson

05:02
BossDD7 Buy Now: https://goo.gl/HvgZGn ZVex Super Seek Buy Now: https://goo.gl/byNJk5 U2 "Zooropa" guitar lesson. The next "Riff of the Day" uses not one, but two Boss DD-7 Digital Delays plus a ZVex Super Seek Wah to recreate the spaced out sounds from The Edge. By setting one delay for 1/8th notes and the other dotted 1/8th, you can achieve the same complex rhythm with very sparse playing. The wah sound locking into the tempo is crucial in recreating Zooropa's "bubbling" quality so the new Super Seek Wah with Tap Tempo is a must. The Edge also tunes a half step below (Eb) to give the root note a heavier sound. Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson!

Dawner Prince Boonar Multi-Head Drum Echo

06:59
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/jdLFeb Today, we're taking a drink from the Boonar by Dawner Prince Electronics. The Boonar multi-head drum echo is a no-holds-barred reimagining of the Binson Echorec, featuring a proprietary DSP that leaves no feature out. Six knobs adorn the Boonar for a fully-customizable Echorec experience. These six controls cover every facet of a vintage Echorec, from tone and repeat level knobs, to input control and swell controls. There's even a Drum Age control on the top of the pedal that lets users dial in the miscalibration of a well-used older unit, introducing all the lush modulation and quirks that go along with it. All four playback heads are accessible with the four illuminated push-button switches on the face of the unit, for 16 multi-dimensional combinations. Plus, the Drum Speed overcomes the original unit's limits with a versatile 40-1000ms delay range. The Swell footswitch siphons off signals from all four heads for a reverb-like tone that drips and swirls into beautiful self-oscillation. When opening up the Boonar, users will find a Dry Volume trimpot for matching the pedal to the incoming signal, as well as DIP switches to switch between True Bypass and Trails modes, as well as Vintage and Modern modes. Each Boonar is hand-crafted in Croatia and built to withstand the road much better than an actual Echorec.

Function f(x) Clusterfuzz

06:33
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/TJxHmu Welcome back to ProGuitarShop.com, this is the Clusterfuzz, from Function f(x). The Clusterfuzz is an all-original fuzz design with an expansive set of controls, all highly interactive to deliver the whole spread of dirt and fuzz flavors. Aside from the standard Volume and Fuzz controls, a clipping switch gives five different clipping arrangements, and unlike many fuzz pedals, the clip setting drastically alters the character of the pedal, giving anything from a light overdrive to a full-on squarewave blown speaker fuzz. A Filter switch cuts the highs on the input and the 8-Bit knob cops video gamey and gated fuzz tones. The controls are highly interactive as well, the Fuzz, Tone and 8-Bit all work together to cover every last bit of fuzz ground. The Fuzz knob controls the gain of the first stage, and the 8-Bit control determines how much of that gain reaches the rest of the circuit. For all the crazy fuzz tones on tap, the Cluster Fuzz cleans up with the best of them, giving players a sparkling clean tone with the guitar's volume rolled back. The Cluster Fuzz is wired for soft-touch true bypass and is hand built in the USA with components of exceptional quality.

DOD Rubberneck Analog Delay Pt. 2

05:29
Buy Now: https://goo.gl/rr1LMx Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com.Today, we're stretching the DOD Rubberneck Analog Delay to explore some of its more advanced features. The sonic palette of the Rubberneck is almost infinitely expandable thanks to a few key features. A single TRS jack effects loop lets you connect any number of pedals in the feedback path for mind-bending effects. Any pedals placed within this loop are applied only to the repeats, letting you apply octave, fuzz, reverb or whatever else, with each repeat reprocessed through the loop. Combining this with the Rubberneck alters the boundaries of delay itself, with the ability to stretch and contract effected repeats. The Rubberneck control lets you stretch up or down in pitch, depending on how far left or right of center you set the Rate control. The Rubberneck's Gain control isn't just for adding light grit, and with plenty of dirt on tap, you can drive your delay tones harder than some actual drive pedals, giving you sweet preamp breakup before the delay. Using the effects loop together with the Rubberneck control and the Gain knob transforms the Rubberneck from a delay pedal into a performance tool. You can also attach a DigiTech FS3X three-button footswitch for extra control action, such as the ability to instantly rubberize your signal, bypass the modulation, remote tap tempo or spiral your feedback out of control with a simple hold. These advanced features make the Rubberneck an instant classic and a must-have for your pedal library.

Featuring 12 delay environments and several submodes within each, the Echosystem covers every delay type in the book, and even writes a few new chapters. Across all 12 environments, the Echosystem features 36 studio-quality delay types, with more in the works. Each delay engine is governed by five global knobs and two “thing” knobs that control individual parameters depending on which mode you’re in. These specialty knobs can control everything from modulation rate and depth to aliasing strength and decay diffusion. Navigating these types couldn’t be simpler, because the Echosystem gives you access to 35 presets, as well as two ways to cycle through them for quick patch changes. The routing capabilities are just as immersive as the delay selection, giving you the ability to run two different delay engines at once, then routing them in series, parallel, or with each engine going to an individual output. The dry signal path of the Echosystem is 100 percent analog, and the delay side features the latest in AD converters for the purest tone possible. The output processing is just as feature laden as the engines themselves, giving you three different cabinet simulators, as well as hum-free stereo operation because of an integrated output transformer. Empress has also included a universal control port that lets you connect any type of control device or protocol you may have, including MIDI, external audio, tap tempo, control voltage and expression control. And just like all Empress Effects, the Echosystem is built with the finest parts money can buy.
