"Linux for Hank" - A children's book about Linux

03:33
Audio version of "Linux for Hank" - a children's book about Linux by Bryan Lunduke. - http://www.lunduke.com I wrote this book because I wanted to read a book about Linux to my (then 2 year old) daughter. One like this didn't exist. Now it does. Here is the full book for you and/or your kids to enjoy. If you feel like supporting books like this, consider buying an eBook copy for a couple of bucks. You can also find more of my eBooks at my website. Some are about Linux. Some are not. Some are for kids. Some are... not for kids. What is Microsoft's strategy with Linux & Open Source?

"Planned Obsolescence Sucks" - Lunduke Weekly Rant - Jan 8, 2018

You know what annoys the snot out of me?  Planned Obsolescence.  Whether it's in Cell Phones, Tractors, or Operating Systems... it just plain stinks.  Here's a quick history of this horrible, horrible practice (including who we have to blame for it) -- along with a few examples of terrible companies that embrace this strategy (*cough* Apple)... and the ways we, as consumers, can fight against it. Fanciest Looking Terminal Emulators on the Planet

10:24
Want to make your Shell / Terminal / Command Line applications look as amazing as possible? You know. Really make them POP? These are the two slickest looking Terminal Emulators I've found. And, my god, they look slick. One just looks snazzy... and the other emulates computers of old (like the C64, Apple II, and old DOS machines). Complete with screen burn, CRT tube, & flicker emulation. Which is more awesome than it sounds. == This episode sponsored by == System76: https://system76.com Pogo Linux: http://www.pogolinux.com/ == More about me == Bryan on Twitter: https://twitter.com/BryanLunduke Like what I do? 30 Day, 1989 Challenge Update #2: Hand-held DOS is rad

25:00
I'm using my modern computers as if I were using them in 1989. (It's a weird idea.) I am now 1 week in. And, turns out, I'm *way* less stressed. And more productive. And obsessing over DOS hand-held devices. Looking at 1995's Netiquette... in 2019.

37:41
A quick stroll back nearly a quarter of a century, to 1995, and the official RFC for "Netiquette"... and how it applies to the year 2019. And, yes. I misspelled it as "Netiquite" in the bottom of the video. Even managed to get it wrong while looking RIGHT at the word... spelled correctly. Right in front of me. I mean, really. What the heck would NetiQUITE even be? Quite? That just makes no friggin' sense. I guess I could edit that bottom part out -- replace it with a graphic that had the word spelled right. .... Naaaah. I wonder how many people will correct that spelling in the comments and never read this. Probably a lot. Let's find out.
