Building A Roubo Work Bench Out Of Southern Yellow Pine (Part 1)

14:39
I built this Split top roubo style woodworking bench out of affordable lumber from the home center. The benchcrafted tail vise and leg vise were not so affordable but definitely worth the investment. This work bench is solid, heavy and great for hand tool woodworking. I used the benchcrafted plans as a guide but had to change some dimensions since i used dimensional southern yellow pine from the home center. I also used Popular woodworking magazine's issue #191 for a guide to cut the dovetails or condor tails as they call them. In this video, I laminate the legs and top, make the end cap and dovetails and install the benchcrafted tail vise. I hop you enjoy the build and please consider subscribing so you don't miss part 2!

Keepsake Box Using Box Joints

10:39
I made this keepsake box using sapele for the wood and finger joints or box joints for the joinery. This is a great weekend woodworking project. The jig for making box joints was simple and quick to make and the contrasting colors of face and end grain looks great. I finished the box with some inexpensive hardware and finished up with a couple coats of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal and buffed it out with some 0000 steel wool and Briwax. Thanks for watching ! Moxon Vise Build

08:54
I built this Moxon vise to make it a little easier to clamp wide boards for laying out and cutting joinery. This bench top woodworking vise allows me to bring the end of my work piece to a comfortable height when laying out and cutting dovetails and other case work joinery. This diy vise will be a great addition to any wood shop or work bench Benchcrafted Moxon vise hardware https://www.benchcrafted.com/moxon Here is the 3 in 1 dry film I used on the vise screws (Affiliate) https://amzn.to/2Inh3Ii Here is a link to the contact cement I used to attach the Crubber (This is a smaller bottle than I show in the video but it doesn't take much) (Affiliate) https://amzn.to/2NJMH8B

Shaker Style Cupboard Using Only Hand Tools!

18:34
I made this DIY shaker style country cupboard using only hand tools as a first project with my new work bench. I have been watching a lot of videos by Wood By Wright and The Hand Toolery (Links to their channels below) lately and was inspired to keep the woodworking machines turned off for this project. It has been a while since i did some traditional woodworking. The cupboard is made from the cheapest common white pine you can buy at the home center. I made the project using a lot of different types of joinery including mortise and tenons, sliding, through and half blind dovetails, ship lap and half lap joinery. It took me about 30 hours to complete and was a great project to pull out the hand saws, hand planes, chisels and more traditional woodworking tools. I had a great time making this project and I hope you enjoy the video. If you do, give me a thumbs up, leave a comment and subscribe to see more! Easy Bench Dogs For The Woodworking Bench

03:54
This is a quick video on how I make the bench dogs for my work bench. This is a common method of making round bench dogs so they don't fall out when not in use and not so tight that you have to hammer them up and down. Best of all, they are inexpensive and only take a few minutes to make. Thanks for watching! Here is a link to the 3/8 in catches I used (Affiliate) https://amzn.to/2NMcnAx

DIY Pedalboard Build

09:32
I made this homemade guitar pedalboard to clean up the mess of cables and effects pedals I have. This was a fun woodworking project that only took a few hours over the weekend to complete. I used sapele wood and dovetail joinery to make this board and I love how it turned out. I installed a power inlet and a couple of 1/4 in jacks to help with cord and cable management . I used General finishes Arm R Seal for a durable finish and added a .250 rubber feet so the pedal board doesn't slide around. Thanks for watching Here is a link to the Jacks and Power inlet I used (Affiliate) https://amzn.to/2PEanv9 Check out my Website https://www.twistedwoodshop.com/

DIY Woodworking Marking Knife

10:05
Today we are making a couple DIY woodworking marking knives. My son has been wanting to try metal working and blacksmithing for a while and I thought a great first project for him would be to make a marking knife. This project can be with minimum tools and can be completed in a weekend. We used 1/16th" O1 tool steel for our marking knives since enough steel to make about 6 of these knives was around $20. Here is a link to the steel we used (Affiliate) https://amzn.to/2Qzm83K You could also use an old saw blade if you wanted. In the video we shape the knife with a hack saw, sander and some hand files. We harden the metal with a couple propane torches and anneal it in a kitchen oven. This is truly an easy beginner bladesmith or knife making project and we had a great time making them. Thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing

Low Angle Jack Plane Review (One Hand Plane For Multiple Tasks)

11:48
For my first tool review, I go over the advantages of the low angle jack plane. This is the most versatile hand plane I own. I can work on end grain, figured grain, remove a lot of material quickly and even use this tool as a scraper with just a quick iron change. Regardless of the brand, If I could only have one bench plane in the wood shop, it would be the no 62 low angle jack plane. Thanks for watching! Building A Corner Cabinet

19:41
I built this corner cabinet out of curly maple. I built this project by following an article in the November 2010 issue (No. 186)of Popular Woodworking Magazine. I really love this design and this is the second one of these style cupboards i have built over the years. I mostly followed the plans in the article but I did make some changes, incorporating a beginner blacksmith project in to the cabinet. I forged these simple J hooks at the anvil for the piece and am I'm really happy with how they turned out. I hope you enjoy the video Here is the finish recipe for this cabinet if you are interested (Affiliate Links) 1. 1/4 teaspoon of Moser's Golden Amber Maple dye mixed with 16 oz of water https://amzn.to/2QGUp49 2. This 8x10 cherry wood picture frame is a great woodworking project for when you don't have much time to spend in the workshop. Only basic woodworking tools are needed to complete this project! Dimensions 2 sides measure 1 and 3/8" wide x 5/8" thick x 12" long. 2 sides measure 1 and 3/8" wide x 5/8" thick x 14" long. All sides require a 1 and 3/8" wide dado starting 2 and 1/8" from each end. The dado needs to be half the thickness of the board. Cut 10 degree angles on the end of each board. The rabbet to accept the glass, and backing board should be 1/4" by 3/8" deep. The glass and backing board should be 8 and 1/4" x 10 and 1/4".
