Microsoft has become one of the largest and well known companies on the planet, but how did they start, what's their story and just how big are they today? In this video we'll take a look.

Correction, it was a mistake to refer to the PDP-8 and those other computers in the 1960s as "microcomputers", these were mini-computers.
Microcomputers were only possible after Intel's introduction of the CPU in 1973. Sorry about that.

*Microsoft is huge.*
Their best move was to accept the Open Source idea.
The converted to the device + software as a service or subscription.
Selling expensive software on CDs is a bit harder today. Software as a service or subscription is a lot more simple, when all the upgrades happen on the server, and the use has no need to do anything for the upgrade or security.
Let's hope Microsoft will respect and honor their commitment to the Open Source model and competing projects.
Android apps would make Microsoft even better, if they had some innovation in that.
14:12, you red it correctly but on the screen there is written: "The quick brown fox jumped (not "jumps" - as it should be)..." making the sentence without "s". Nevertheless thank you for the great video, giving a thumb up! :-)
The only comment that I would say is that you talk about edge browser. Microsoft is actually killing off edge in favor of a Chrome kit (blink).
Hi is a genius? He had proper business advice from his lawyer father and insights into tech through his mother's tech contacts in IBM. There is nothing genius about this freak. He is just an evil geek who hates people, which you can hear from this scientist, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1282XZ_8ofw.
I don't know if you call yourself a journalist, but this video is a shameful but kissing of this evil prick!
The real problem of Microsoft was Ballmer, the additude of Ballmer with his outdated 80's "competition cannot kill us, we are the best" mindset and still treat consumers of there products as guinea pigs (which was possible in the early days). He don't want to accept others can do it better, instead of corporate he starts to fight the competition.
Microsoft still try to recover from this bully effect however I believe it is a little too late and copying Apple's and Google ideas is not a solution. They will survive for a long time because of money and some 'reputation' and connections but they are loosing market share (on major divisions) because others did it better with better products. Nadella does a good job however cannot fix all of the damage because it is too late, people don't want adopt, it is another time.
Google ruin their software business model at consumer level, free software and pay with something else. Because of the internet, sharing software and solutions, getting better and better. Open software is booming, it will effect Apple at the long run too. Open software become mature like all other things in life, solved problems, complicated things results in 'simple' things, serves humans, world getting smarter.
We have learned from the past that big companies can even disappear like snow on a sunny morning. One mistake is just a matter of time.
I think losing Gates is the worse thing that happened to Mircosoft.
Window 10 is not popular, you get forced into it with harassment pop ups, when your using new hardware with windows 7 even do it works better under windows 7. Windows 10 is still one of the most buggy and user unfriendly OS i ever worked with, updates have never been so dangerous. I have been doing tech support for it for 25 years now, i would say windows 10 is just as bad as windows Millennium or Vista. Edge i seriously doubt there gone pass chrome, bing is the worse search engine, and there a lot of other issues with edge.
Companies going over to windows 10 are also forced to upgrade to a new office version older versions don't work well. And if you have scrips in your office, well you have to start over because your old ones don't work in new office. So a upgrade to windows 10 mostly also involves a upgrade to office+scrips and other software as well. This leads to having to do large investments into update or new software. There not making friends with this lack of support for older software.
As for hardware its almost apple, outdated hardware in new devices and overpriced or just not good enough compared to others on the market.
With google new game platform and linux coming closer to be a gaming OS, i think the future of mircosoft has never looked as bad as it does today on the software side of things.
Right now the current valuation of Microsoft is *$904,860,000,000.00* at the moment. Microsoft is currently the world's largest company by market cap. Amazon, Google and Apple are also in the running as well for world's largest companies by market cap.
I'm locked out of my own account. I brought things assigned to my hotmail account [email protected], and losing money on it, so I want to sue the Microsoft company as soon as possible. Can anyone tell me, that if I can sue the company from Hungary.
I have heard back in the day of Bulletin Board Services there was an uproarby the hippy developers as MS developers were takining the guts of their wordprocessor, database and spreadsheet programs , freely developed and shared on the boards and transforming them into for profit software products.
I love this edgy look! I was so excited that her hair, even as short as it is now, was still able to be put into the fun and trendy dutch pigtail braids! Instead of braiding to the ends, I ended them in close together pigtails at the nape of her neck. After I finished braiding, I tugged on the outsides of the braid gently to loosen them and make them a little messy and fun! Since she doesn’t have enough hair to tie around the elastics, I made sure to use elastics that matched her hair so they blend in as much as possible. You could also cover them with clips or bows! A view from the back of her Dutch pigtail braids! A great braid for short hair is a micro accent braid! My biggest tip for braiding short hair would be to add in small slices of hair rather than big ones. I did a small (micro) braid along a slightly curved deep part for anther cute and edgy look! You could also do another one next to it if you wanted a little more to the look, but I really liked how simple this one was. You can see how the part curves a little better from this view of the back. I ended the braid close to the head with an elastic that matched her hair. For our fourth style, we did a 3/4 french braid! Super simple but also super cute! You could do any type braid! It would also look cute using a Dutch braid or a fishtail braid! I loved the side view of this braid! I will for sure be doing this one next time she goes to gymnastics or swimming, whichever comes first! Our last braid is two four dutch lace braids into two loops in the back. Start off by parting the hair down the middle. On each side of the part, do a dutch lace braid, adding hair in from only the section closest to the part as you braid. Tie the braids together in the back with a small elastic and before you pull the hair all the way through to make a ponytail, leave it in a cute little loop! If the hair is a little bit longer, you could do a tiny bun. Repeat this directly under the braid you just did so you have two rows and two loops.
We will have to be coming up with lots more short hair braids in the future, so be sure to give us a follow over at our newly redesigned blog Abella’s Braids to see more as we do them!
Thanks for reading! See you again this time next month!
love these ideas! My daughter recently cut about 8 inches off her hair and is loving her shorter hair, but I’ve mostly been at a loss of what to do with it! Thanks!
Abella has been begging me for at least a year, probably closer to two years, to cut her hair. I posted a photo on Instagram with a question in the caption. “Abella has been begging me to cut her hair short, do you think I should let her do it?” Almost everyone said “YES!” So thanks to all of the good advice from my followers, we did it…and we haven’t regretted it for a second! I think she looks so cute and it really fits her personality! It’s for sure a lot harder to come up with braids but it’s pushed me to step out of my comfort zone! We wanted to show you that even if you have short hair, there are lots of cute braids you can still do!
This first braid (above) is three ladder braids. Start out with a part deep to one side. On the side with less hair, start out by doing a waterfall braid along the part. Under that one, do another waterfall braid, but incorporate the waterfall pieces from the one above it as you braid. Under that one, do a french braid. Incorporate the waterfall pieces from the second braid as you go. We braided each one to the ends and used elastics that matched her hair to tie them off.
