More of a REAL campus unlike the Apple Park.

Awesome, how can people from other countries apply for a job there with you and get some sort of help from MS to get all paperwork to live in US? serious question :)
Andy Arexx-Siharath (5 months ago)
this re-design alone now makes me wanna work at Microsoft!

I miss the old Microsoft. Xbox 360, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows XP.

So Apple built a UFO, and Microsoft is building a mini-city?

Why so bad rendering ? What's wrong with the architecture firm ?
Adam Peterson (1 year ago)
As long as you know the difference between a landscaper and an Arborist. One will develop a beautiful plan, but one knows the long term effects of tiny spaces for large trees. The root system for most trees is twice as big as the crown in diameter, and needs breathable ground to yay healthy. Better the have an Arborist on board now, cause with your current plan, you'll need him later...
Cetin Uzun (1 year ago)
Some day I am gonna go there and live forever. This is a place where you can work happy and motivated every day. :) I hope I can get there

Make Microsoft great again! Very nice!

Most significant is the history; the original part of the now sprawling Microsoft Redmond campus is about to be replaced. Nostalgic for countless people for sure.

Engineers need offices, not "neighborhoods". Open plan office layouts are a hostile work environment, full of distractions: noises, smells, and visual distractions. They do not work for software development. The best productivity tool you can give an engineer is their own office, where they can focus, think deeply, and be productive without being incessantly interrupted.
Jason Zimmerman (1 year ago)
Wow, you actually get it. Thank you. Yeah, traffic going by and getting interrupted every 2 minutes while I'm trying to troubleshoot a thousand lines of code is not going to help me get anything done.
Craig L M (1 year ago)
There is some truth in what you say good sir. While it is an initiative that "seems" to work at some companies allowing collaboration, that is exactly what tools like GIT etc. accomplish. Getting to work 3 hours early to avoid randomization or distractions, does not improve productivity.
skeletonboi (1 year ago)
Not really, all the major software companies have proven you wrong.

New construction doesn't change a messed up corporate culture. It merely paints over the rust and rot.

most boring thing ever...In what year are we? not surprised, is Microsoft after all...
cloverlief (1 year ago)
I will be happy to see the change but at the same time, kind of saddened. I believe this change is needed as the campus does not make practical use of the land (it made sense over 30 years ago) I have been here off and on for almost 20 years now. 1st project was with Windows 2000 on that one building at the bottom of the change area (26) that looks like half of it will disappear. So it will take a lot of getting used to, but again needed. While I like what is there now, I also look forward to whats new and what can be. Being in some of the older middle buildings I do say they need a lot of updating anyway.
Mike Fisher (1 year ago)
I've worked in several of those buildings being shown getting wiped out on the map. I also worked in the building showcased at the end with the modern interior. Although that building looks cool, it is honestly the worst for productivity I've experienced. I think it just doesn't match the company culture well. Best of luck, but I don't think the new buildings will be an improvement.

Only two things about this make me a bit sad :( Building 3 (or was it Bldg 2?)....the original (after "BurgerMaster") World HQ is going down in the process and....no more sending the NG to "an important meeting at building 7!!!!"....other than that....this is easily the most exciting RE news on the Eastside since the late 80's when Msft started it's surge in to the skies. Congratulations Microsoft!!! Very COOL!!!!!
Trevor Brass (1 year ago)
Certainly more modest and humble than Apple's new HQ, but something like this is probably far more feasible for other companies to study and emulate in their designs.

Exciting news for Redmond!
Rizky06 (1 year ago)
So basically MS is building a small self contained city.   Before you raze the old buildings can we see what they once looked like?
Leanna Cyrus (6 months ago)
There not that Elegant inside to be honest building one through 10 needed an upgrade thank God it’s happening
Jon Julnes (1 year ago)
It's a beautiful campus, with a fantastic history. Many of the buildings actually have a story, as does the reason they even came to exist, their original design....so much about that property is intriguing. If you live near there, you should go drive around the place.
Rizky06 (1 year ago)
Thank You Jon..  I was hoping for full exterior and interior photos especially of the earliest days of Microsoft.  I figure why not, since they will be torn down and/or replaced.
Jon Julnes (1 year ago)
You can indeed. You can pause this video as it starts, and you can also find it on Google Earth (type in "Microsoft Campus", and then click on the appropriate button).

why two soccer fields and no american football or basketball?
Gustavo Franco (8 months ago)
It doesn't matter, the usual group take monopoly and reserve the fields for the whole year to play cricket making to play soccer or anything else almost impossible, vast majority in Microsoft is pissed of for this, however this selected group probably have someone from the inside, they always do the same every year and reserve the fields for whole year, is fuc... disgusting.
Ping King (8 months ago)
did you notice at 1:20, there is actually a dedicated circular cricket field/pitch? This is going to be the first corporate campus with a cricket field on it. I guess Satya's love for cricket kind of helped other cricket lovers in and around Microsoft :)
Don Green (1 year ago)
Because more MSFT employees play soccer or cricket than football. baseball or basketball
Ambigulous (1 year ago)
I know. I was on the first Microsoft cricket "team", in 1988. :)
Jason Short (1 year ago)
Ambigulous actually Cricket is played on all the fields. We have multiple teams that are all just employees.

spend less money on the animation and more money on the design of the buildings - who chose the music? - fire them
M P (1 year ago)
So what you're basically saying is that you'll be able to get better building design by saving a few hundred dollars on the cost of animation? Do you even think before you type

I'm only 20, have 1.5 years of college left and As soon as I graduate I WILL work there to not only fulfill my passion to work for Microsoft, but to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more!

Oh wow. This looks amazing, two connected campuses, light rail stop/ station, and parking underneath the buildings. Making the buildings themselves look like a Microsoft store, using the sun as the main light scours. Also adding a huge outside activity areas with "the heart of the campus" and what seemed like a baseball field and two open grass fields out lined with running track. Amazing hopeing to work/ attend/ visit when it's all finished and done.
KornKernel (1 year ago)
It's really interesting that Microsoft Campus is really like a small city on its own, which is nice. Would be nicer if they have automatic maglev trams connecting all areas in Microsoft HQ, voiced by Cortana.
Jordawn House (1 year ago)
I’m going to work there one day, and change the world by improving education for children while getting them engaged in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.

hehehe, people, Usama was just joking, relax
Your Lord and Savior (1 year ago)
Usama Sadiq lol Apple’s campus is the definition of sprawl. Local governments around the Bay Area and urban planners have criticized it for how it’ll negatively impact all nearby cities with horrendous traffic. Microsoft’s campus will maximize the utility of public transit. Apples to oranges.
