A lot of that tech is useless. Who needs a touch screen newspaper or a cup of coffee with a screen
IMarkovic1995 (24 days ago)
They got some stuff right, sort of... Looks nothing like it looks like in the video but it's still here. Like tablets, foldable phones, touch screen phones, the flat UI, the remote, etc.

Seriously, look at the date in the video at 3:55 (February 2018) Today is 2018, and the future as shown in the video has not yet been implemented. We need another 10 years to put into effect.
Joshua Levy (1 month ago)
I watched this video when it first debuted on the internet. Was expecting a future like this. 2019 now and it seems like this future has to be pushed back another 40 years or so considering the state we are in for progress. This is pretty much Back to the Future for me. The estimated date is much further out.
Donovan (1 month ago)
Budar Endario we are already past most of this stuff. Only thing we don’t have yet are the transparent devices. And AR is just around the corner. Almost everything they showed is already on our phones and tablets.
And 2/12/18 (also my 15th birthday lmao) was a Monday, not a Wednesday.

Matt Laskowski (1 year ago)
Remember: all of this "tech" in the video is supposed to be augmented reality -- not literal electronics embedded in every surface everywhere. Think the future of HoloLens as implants.

Well they did nail that in the future all UI design is flat. So good job.
Waluigi (9 days ago)
+huihkjhlhlhh gigkjhkhljl,pm They exist, but they aren't commonly used.
Well, you can see all the computer concepts where glass. And I guess they wanted the computer designs to follow suit, with their UI.
Drago1995 (1 month ago)
yeah witch is ugly and boring as shit XD
benclark07 (5 months ago)
except material, which isn't
Lawayne Hayes (6 months ago)
Honres Reinholds is right the glass screen computers are real but what Microsoft got wrong is that in 2018 their still in the prototype phase you only see them a Tech expos. They aren't commonly used in an office and school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYQUCpLlc8U

Just to give you all some hope, these are the things that are already possible: 0:08 (Do you have a cat? - Real time translation): Skype translator 0:38 (Shannon's stuff - Remote classroom): Google Classroom 0:48 (Work Schedule - Digital calendar): Outlook, Google Calendar and every other calendar app 1:08 (Flight tracking) I can only recall Cortana and Google Assistant doing this. 1:35 (Air gesture): Leap Motion 2:09 (Holographic info): Microsoft HoloLens, though with a huge device on, and Google Glass 1:44 (Foldable phones): [RUMOR] the Surface Phone 2:55 (Screen hubs): Surface Hub 3:28 (Voice assistants): Cortana, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Hound by SoundHound, etc. 3:51 (Fingerprint recognition): Has been around for quite a while 4:29 (Smarthomes): Maybe a combination between Alexa and Surface Hub? Possible but not done 5:12 (Image recognition): Microsoft CaptionBot, Google Photos can do it too 5:29 (Green roofs): Possible but barely implemented Can't wait for the rest to come :D
Jaron Black (3 months ago)
Something similar to the smart home shown here exists now, but in a smaller form factor. examples of these include the Amazon echo show, google assistant powered smart displays, and the Google home hub.
Jensi Oquendo (3 months ago)
Smart homes are already here thanks to the usage of IFTTT.
Laserjay123 (6 months ago)
It says 2018 in the video :P
Yes you're right but it's not so tech how the video shows 😐

But they don’t look as elegant as transparent glass screens or paper thin , bezeless cards
Zachary Trant (2 years ago)
had to laugh at the coffee cup XD
Birsp (1 year ago)
I can kind of see that being a thing one day, maybe not with a display all the way around lol, could easily though put a small cheap lcd display on the side and a thermometer and level reader in the cup would be a like $60 coffee cup though lol
Gene Henderson (2 years ago)
Its already here folks, the world is not ready for it yet, only a select few get it the rest of mankind will just fade away like an 8 track.

Not if it's augmented reality projected onto a blank piece of paper.

Thanks for your comment! What ideas from the video stood out to you, in particular?
Microsoft Office 365 (6 years ago)
@rowenagilroy Thanks for your comment. Our hope was that this video would get people thinking about their own vision for the future - looks like you have a good start on some ideas for what technology can do for us! What other ideas or products do you hope to see come to fruition?
rowenagilroy (6 years ago)
Two things I can say. One, I think I'd get sick of typography. Two, why do we still use conventions if they no longer have a place? As in, if my newspaper can do everything my TV can do, why wouldn't I tape a newspaper to the wall?
Jilary Klinton (7 years ago)
New World Order?
Microsoft Office 365 (7 years ago)
@dirtykeskin We prefer to be optimistic - we see a bright and active future full of possibility! What are some ideas you have on what technology can help us achieve in the future?
Microsoft Office 365 (7 years ago)
@vastblue Awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing :) Safety is definitely an area we see a bright future for techology to improve on, so we're glad you mentioned that.
Microsoft Office 365 (7 years ago)
@natashaoon Thanks for your feedback. This series of 'Future Vision' videos contains ideas we have been brainstorming for years, but development for ideas as advanced as these can take quite a while. Although we cannot promise every idea you see in these videos will come to fruition, we are confident you will excited by some products we currently have in development. Thanks for your patience! In the meantime, please feel free to share your own ideas for the future with us!
vastblue (7 years ago)
@officevideos I'd like to see better battery life, for one :P Plugging in my smart phone every night is kind of annoying! haha...other than that, probably better integration with security technology to keep the streets safer at night. Technology is all well and good, but if someone mugs you and steals your technology then it's kind of useless!
Microsoft Office 365 (7 years ago)
@ClausSanta7 Thanks for your feedback! This comment just made our day :) We're glad to hear he's getting an early start on brainstorming the possibilties of technology in the future. Be sure to share any of his ideas with us here!
Microsoft Office 365 Somethings became real like the holographic vision (Hololens) i Hope more to the future i saw this video when I was a kid like 6 years Ago and i didn't expect this futere but i'm happy for happenning 😁
